JOBS FIRST. JOBS NOW.
With a state unemployment rate the highest since 1984, Lansing just isn’t getting it done. Mike Nofs believes every piece of legislation lawmakers consider should pass the “jobs test.” That means ideas making it easier to create jobs in Michigan become first priority. Proposals making it harder to create jobs go nowhere. This kind of test sets a clear agenda for Lansing: JOBS FIRST.
Job #1. Make it Easier to Create Jobs in Michigan.
State government has made it harder for companies to create jobs in this state and Mike Nofs wants to change that now by:
- Repealing the Michigan Business Tax (MBT) surcharge that punishes job providers.
- Reforming burdensome regulations to stop jobs from leaving Michigan.
- Cutting government red tape to jumpstart economic development.
Job #2. Help Workers Get Ahead.
Michigan workers shouldn’t have to wait any longer for the economy to rebound. We can help now by:
- Utilizing our Community Colleges to provide training programs for people who lose their job.
- Opposing income tax hikes because now more than ever, workers deserve to keep more of what they earn.
- Retain current employers through incentives and rewards. We should be putting everything on the table to keep our job providers here.
Job #3. Fix State Government.
Lansing is part of the problem. And part of the solution to turning Michigan around is overhauling state government now by:
- Stopping wasteful spending.
- Conducting audits and posting all spending on the internet for greater transparency.
- Cutting state legislators’ pay by 10% and ending lifetime benefits.
Job #4. Conquer the International Marketplace.
We have the best and brightest workers right here in Michigan and there’s no reason we can’t compete and win over any other state or country. We can make that a reality now by:
- Increasing efforts to sell Michigan-made products around the world.
- Attracting job providers to Michigan with incentives for expanding or creating new businesses and hiring new employees.
- Encourage entrepreneurship and keep tomorrow’s leaders here today. Michigan’s college graduates are one of our biggest exports and that has to stop.
See how we will bring back jobs, decrease taxes, and much more.
